Head of House Management / Tenant Support - Edgware, London
We are recruiting for a new role working for a growing charity to manage the resident team across several sites.
Management a) Manage the Resident House Management team including relief House Managers across several sites b) Oversee and manage the Tenant Support & Benefits Advisors and the Tenant Support Team Administrators on a day to day basis c) Support the House Managers in the management of the cleaners d) Recruit staff that fall under their management (with assistance from the HR & Executive Assistant) e) Induct new staff f) Monitor the regular performance of all staff under their management g) Take whatever disciplinary action that may be required in the event of under-performance or a breach of the code of conduct (in consultation with the Chief Executive and/or HR & Executive Assistant). h) Respond to any problems or grievances raised by staff under their management. i) Ensure that staff receive the training required to carry out their roles professionally and in accordance with legal requirements
Tenant Support a) Work with the Tenant Support Team to ensure the welfare of all tenants living in independent living projects including overseeing liaison with statutory and voluntary agencies as necessary b) Attend hospital case conferences if required c) Mediate between tenants in cases of anti-social behaviour e) Ensure that any formal complaints made by tenants relating to the conduct of staff are thoroughly investigated and fully documented in accordance with the appropriate complaints procedures and appropriate measures taken. f) Ensure the necessary policies and procedures relating to tenants and their tenancies are in place and keeping them updated g) From time to time attend tenant forums
Application and allocations h) Respond to emergency calls from staff under their management. i) Assess application forms and if appropriate forward them for home assessment j) Serve as a member of the home visit team. Attending at the homes of applicants when possible along with another home visitor to assess the suitability of applicants for accommodation at the schemes and preparing reports of the home visits. m) Serve as a member of the Allocations committee
MAIN REQUIREMENTS
The applicant must: a) Efficiently undertake the Objectives of the Post (above). b) Be an experienced social work professional c) Have strong man-management skills d) Have understanding of the needs of people with disabilities e) Be able to maintain strict confidentiality protocols f) Have good interpersonal skills and be an empathic listener g) Be computer literate h) Have good verbal and written communication skills i) Communicate with prospective tenants and existing tenants j) Participate in training as necessary k) Be conscientious, punctual and self motivated l) Be adaptable. m) Have a knowledge of Jewish practices n) Be good humoured. o) Be able to work as part of a team. p) Be open and transparent
Hours: full time Monday-Thursday 9.00am-5.30pm, Friday 9.00am-2.00-pm.
Holidays: 20 days plus Bank Holidays and Jewish Holy Days
